Warfarin Stories
Lets walk the road of one person’s health issue scenario showing two possible outcomes.
Differing only in the choices made in the treatment plan.
Scenario #1
After waking from an afternoon nap, with a strange pain in my right side, just below the rib, and thinking it was just some intestinal gas I went about the day. Having never experienced any real problems with my health, I shrugged it off, tried some yoga stretches and another rest thinking it would alleviate itself like those usual little aches and pains that come and go in life.
Now I must explain that I am not a great vegetable eater, I have always craved the protein foods like eggs, cheese, and beef. It seems a natural calling, so I listen.
Previous to the time of this pain I was indulging in a great deal of veggie green powder drinks trying to optimize alkalinity in my blood stream. After indulging for (three or four weeks) in this delicious way to take ones greens (loaded with vitamin K, the blood clotting influence in our blood) I ended up with this problem of pain that would not alleviate, so like we do, I went to the internet to search my symptoms.
The description was clearly a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot on the lung. Early the next morning I decided reluctantly to go to the local hospital for an opinion, for the night had not brought any relief to the discomfort in lung area, breathing was restricted to a certain level before the pain and restricted breathing remained.
Upon our arrival at the hospital I explained to the reception I am having a pulmonary embolism, the receptionist responded with a blank look, I was steered to the emergency department. We did not have a family Doctor for we do not use their services in our family life, we do however have insurance for critical accidents and things we cannot manage. Our health problems are dealt with Homeopathic and Herbal remedies to great satisfaction and safety.
A young Physician came to my bedside and asked about my experience I was having, I told him I am having a pulmonary embolism on my lung. “How do you know?” was the response, My response “well I researched it on line”. He replied “You cannot go by the internet!” We must do some tests……mmm I thought what are they going to expose me to now!
“ We will run some X-rays to see what’s happening.” My thought was, Ok I can handle that, only having had one dental x-ray in my life. All the time knowing this is mans biggest killer of cells, radiation!
Well, after four X-rays revealed a very black area they could not decipher, it was decided I need a CatScan, a scan that equals 500 chest x-rays!
Submitting uneasily to this, after discussing this with my husband I was wheeled away down those scary hallways with weird odors to the CatScan room.
Being told I would have a hot sensation in my groin when they inject the reflecting dyes that allow the image to show, (everyone else mean while left this toxic room) I was put through the doughnut shaped scanner. And, they were right the burning sensation in my groin was intense! Not once, but twice the test was run for they did not get the first image correctly, so I probably was exposed to the equal of 1000 chest x-rays, to this day I am not sure! Never mind the lack of maintenance of these units output and their safety.
To date, I do not volunteer to Airport x-ray scans, I allow them feel me all they like! We should all question Airport scans and not accept them willy-nilly! I am not really sure about the intensity of exposure with these scans, but they go through your entire body and show your total body scanned.
The results in the hospital that day showed a pulmonary embolism on my right lung! I was given pure Oxygen even though my own level was still at 99 %, no harm there, and I was injected with Heparin into my belly fat to start to dissolve the clot, I thought good we’re on our way to getting this thing corrected. Immediate relief let me know I was correct in my diagnoses.
We were sent home with a prescription for five more self-administered injections of Heparin through the next five days. ( Just $125.00) I did have to go to the local nurse the next day for them to collect data and to teach me how to jab my belly fat with a needle, really quite easy after you get over the needle thing! And, to warn me of the severity of pulmonary embolisms!
The following week was the follow up at the Docs office, he quick to tell me I would have to be on Warfarin for six months, and he ordered some stool testing because blood clots can be an indicator bowel cancer. They are quick to get you booked! Be cautious.
Now 12 months have passed, I never went for the stool test, never took the Warfarin, for it did not makes any sense, what would happen in six months as I go off this treatment? Would my blood react by clotting even more after coming accustomed to the blood thinner? Instead I took 15 tablets Woebenzyme a day ( a natural anti inflammatory with blood thinning ability) for two months, and now just take 2 a day. I have since taken long airline flights and feel terrific, full breathing capacity. ( Long airline flights do have a very small connection to Pulmonary embolisms.)
I am curious what my outcome would be had if I had taken the Warfarin ( it is known to cause microscopic lesions in the brain) and gone for their stool testing. Now it must be mentioned that tests often reveal erroneous results, would I have been led down a dangerous path, going through colonoscopy, anesthetic and invasive testing procedures?
The point here to be made is to question all that is put forward when you are in a difficult situation, even if it is an emergency, question everything. Many errors are made in the testing protocols (namely having to be scanned twice because they did not do it correctly the first time). We do have choices, and there are often wonderful, simple, natural protocols that would be useful in many situations.
So I got thinking what if things had gone differently…..?
Scenario #2
If I had done what the Physicians had requested, the following is what may have evolved in the next several months.
Following my visit at the doctors office, I filled my prescription for Warfarin, and began with the directed protocol 1 -500mg tablet daily. The next week I dropped off the stool sample for testing, easily provided with a smear on the test form. The results came back 3 weeks later, inconclusive, the Doctor phoned me and requested another test to be done the following week. The second test also came back with no problem markers, but I was questioning if they had found blood in the sample it could have been due to the Warfarin inducing microscopic bleeding in my bowel, and as I suspected the results came back negative, for I have never had any indications that a problem existed in my intestines. Always in the past I have included good quality probiotics in my vitamin regime.

I continued the prescribed Warfarin for three months, but I was starting to notice that I was bruising quite easily on my legs and arms. A small bump against a wall left a bruise that seemed to last far longer than I had experienced before. I mentioned this to the Doctor on my next visit but he largely ignored the complaint and suggested that the required protocol was for six months treatment, and I should continue. After four months he ordered another Cat-Scan, just to be sure the clot had diminished for it had been a large mass in my lung. Feeling that this may not be necessary I questioned him whether it was essential, he suggested just to be sure we should check it. So I was exposed again to the radiation and its damaging effects, just to have a look. I followed the request and had the Cat-scan, again, feeling the strange burn in my groin. My research revealed that radiation can damage the blood vessel walls and cause a thickening of the walls. Radiation can also do DNA damage. So I decided no more Cat-scans for me.
The weeks following, I was not feeling my usual robust self, and really questioned the Warfarin I had been taking. Upon my next check-up, month five of the ordeal, he took my blood pressure and alerted me the pressure was 139 over 120! My blood pressure had never reached that level even through five childbirths! Now, I knew my health was being affected negatively by the Warfarin protocol and the Cat-scans. What I did not know was why my blood pressure had elevated to those levels. Possibly they had damaged my blood vessels with the Cat-scans! The Doctor was alarmed by the elevated pressure, and prescribed a hypertension medication to lower the pressure. Now I was on two prescription drugs!
Now, to sum up this scenario things could escalate into further problems, this shows how an escalation of Iatrogenic ( Doctor and Drug induced) disease can take a hold of your future health. So be informed, and trust your bodies intuitive strength to heal ~ there is always another way through the storm.
And always question the maintenance and calibration of the diagnostic equipment you about to be exposed to.
Most importantly, the body needs to move, we have five times the lymph fluid in our body as we do blood. But, there is no pump, the pumping comes from exercising our bodies, simple swift walking is excellent, cycling and any movement that rotates the arms and legs is necessary.
To this day, I wonder how many invasive tests I would have gone through, had I followed all the recommendations put forward. I am happy with my choices and to be informed about nutritional compliments, natural remedies and exercise.
I thank my family for their encouragement and support through this trip I went through. Today I work hard physically, have lost some body fat and feel terrific.
Always check out Nutritional Compliments, and do your own research, the information is no longer hidden deep in MD’s text books!
Yours in good health,
Margaret
