Kapikacchu are the seeds that are encased by a velvety pod of a tropical legume, hence the common name Velvet bean. It is considered to be a key rejuvenating tonic in Ayurvedic Medicine and has been traditionally associated with sexual vigor and vitality. Kapikacchu contains unique plant compounds such as naturally occurring Levadopa, (L-Dopa), a precursor to Dopamine. In Traditional Ayurvedic formulations, Kapikacchu is commonly combined with Amla, Ashwagandha, Gokshura or Shatavari. According to the energetic principles of Ayurveda, Kapikacchu is sweet and bitter in the Rasa taste energy, heating in action according to Virya and balancing for Vata and Pitta constitutional doshas, with a tendency to increase Kapha.
